Unable to access music library

Applies to:

Use this information if you experience issues with your music library.

  • Reboot the computer or NAS drive that hosts the music library
  • Reset your Bose system
  • If using iTunes 12.2 or newer, open iTunes and select iTunes > Preferences > Advanced. In the Advanced settings, make sure that “Share iTunes Library XML with other applications” is ticked so the iTunes library is available to the SoundTouch system
  • If using iTunes 12.5.1 on a Windows computer, make sure that the “iTunes Music Library.xml” file is located in the default iTunes location (C:\Users\[username]\Music\iTunes). If it is not located here, find the file and move it
  • Log in to the router’s settings menu and temporarily disable the router’s firewall to determine whether it is blocking SoundTouch functionality
  • If using a NAS drive, determine whether the drive is accessible with Windows Media Player or iTunes. If not, it is likely not communicating on your network. Try resetting the drive or reconnecting it to the network
  • Remove and re-add the music library:
  1. In the app, select Menu (≡) > Settings > Music Services > Music Library
Note: On desktops and tablets, if the Menu icon (≡) is not visible, the slide-out menu might already be open
  2. Select your music library
  4. Choose “REMOVE” from the confirmation pop-up
  5. Re-add the music library through the app by selecting Menu (≡) > Add Service > Music Library on NAS
  6. Give the library a new name (optional)
