Cannot connect a Bluetooth device

If you cannot pair your Bose speaker or headphones to a Bluetooth device, like a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or TV, here are some things to try.

Here are some things to know:

  • Channel 3 is for Bluetooth devices and line-level audio sources
  • Bluetooth range is about 30 ft / 9 m. This distance can be reduced by walls, pockets, nearby wireless devices, etc.
  • You can connect both your mobile device and a line-level audio source to Channel 3 at the same time. If you do, the system mixes the audio from each source, meaning that any adjustments you make to the channel volume, treble, or bass affect both sources. To adjust your mobile device volume independently, use your device controls
  • If the light blinks when you press the Bluetooth® button on the speaker:
    • Your Bose product is trying to connect to a remembered Bluetooth® device
    • This light status means your Bose product is trying to connect to previously-connected devices in order of last connected. If the device you are trying to connect wasn't the last connected, it could take a minute to find it
  • If the light glows solid white when you press the Bluetooth® button on the speaker:
    • Your Bose product has connected to a remembered Bluetooth® device
    • This light status means your Bose product automatically connected to a previously-connected device. You product remembers the last several connected devices and will automatically reconnect to them in order of last connected

Reboot the Bluetooth® device.

Electronics, such as cell phones, tablets or computers, might need to be reset on occasion to correct minor issues. This is typically done by turning the device off, then powering it on again.

Clear your Bose product memory of previously-connected Bluetooth® devices.

Your Bose product remembers the last several devices it connected to so it can quickly reconnect to them. In case there is an issue with the device memory, clear it and then try to reconnect the device. For more information, see Clearing the product memory of paired Bluetooth devices and Connecting a Bluetooth device.

Remove your product from the memory of the Bluetooth device, then try again.

In the Bluetooth settings of the Bluetooth device, find the list of previously connected products. Remove your product from the list, including any duplicate listings labeled LE (Low Energy), then reconnect it to the device. For more information, see Connecting a Bluetooth device.

Try connecting a different Bluetooth® device.

If your Bose product can connect to another device, Bluetooth functionality is working. In cases like this, the issue could be with the first device or its settings.

Reboot the system.

Unplug the power cord and remove the system battery. Wait 30 seconds, then replace the battery and firmly plug the power cord back into the AC (mains) outlet.

Select the type of device you are trying to connect:

Smartphone or tablet

Computer

TV
