Poor sound quality from product

If you experience distortion, crackling, static, noise or unexpected poor sound quality from your product:

Be sure the system is set up properly and all connections are secure.

A connection may have come loose or may be connected incorrectly. For more info, see Setting up your product.

Determine if the problem is specifically related to bass performance.

If there is too little bass, see Too little bass or too much treble from product.
If there is too much bass, see Too much bass or too little treble from product.

If connected to the Line Inputs, check the Line In EQ setting.

If you are connecing to the LINE INPUT jacks on your bass module, push the LINE INPUT EQ button to select an EQ setting. Selecting L1 is recommended when connected to an L1 system and selecting LPF is recommended when connecting to another system. However, either setting can be used. Try both to determine if you prefer the sound of one setting over the other.

If multiple bass modules are being used, try changing the phase.

When two speakers are playing the same sound, especially in close proximity, you can experience phase issues. Try setting the PHASE/PATTERN control on one speaker to +, then set it to on the other speaker.

If multiple bass modules are being used, try turning on or off Cardioid mode.

When using two bass modules, you have the option to make the low-frequency sound from you system more or less directional. This can affect the amount of bass heard from your system. For more info, see Turning on or off Cardioid mode.

Reset your product.

Much like rebooting a smartphone, your product might need to be reset on occasion to correct minor issues. For more info, see Resetting your product.

Plug in a different audio source.

Connected a different audio source to determine if the issue is related to the source: If audio is being sent to your system from a a microphone, try a different microphone; if an instrument is connected, try a different instrument.

Try a different output on the mixer or audio source.

If the audio source has more than one output (i.e. a mixer with main and aux outputs), connect to another output with the same cables to determine if the output is the issue.

Replace the input cables.

Try different input cables using the same source and same channel. If this solves the problem, the original cables may be defective.

Check for sources of interference.

Electronics can pick up interference from other electronics connected to the same power circuit or connected within close proximity. Try disconnecting the power cord from any such nearby electronics (i.e. laptop/phone charger, TV, cable box, seasonal lights, microwave, etc.). If the issue is resolved, try connecting the device or your product to a different power circuit or farther away.

Try a different powered speaker or sound system.

If available, connect a to different powered speaker to determine if the issue is related to the audio source or connecting cables.
